The first and rarest issue of Augustus III’s thalers from his Polish coinage, the so-called Banco-Taler.
This issue differs from its Saxon counterparts in the absence of the Saxon coat of arms, as well as in the king’s title: “August III, King of Poland by the Grace of God” (instead of Frederick Augustus).
This particular specimen is, in addition, a very rare variety featuring a narrow bust of the king with the signature of Jan Leonard Oexlein (OE at the bottom).
Classified by Kopicki as R5 in rarity (compared to R2 for the other varieties).
Naturally circulated piece, with a very attractive appearance. A vibrant, full-sized coin.
Silver, diameter 43 mm, weight 28.94 g.
