The highest denomination of the first banknotes of the Second Polish Republic (1924 issue)—a distinctive series whose design featured both the coins they were intended to replace and Warsaw monuments (for the 50 groszy note, the monument to Prince Józef Poniatowski).
They were issued directly by the Ministry of the Treasury (rather than by the issuing bank). They supplemented the money supply at a time of a noticeable shortage of coins on the market. Denominations ranging from 1 to 50 groszy were produced at that time, but only the three highest denominations (10, 20, and 50 groszy) were not reprints.
