This denomination was put into circulation in October 1931 and remained in circulation until the end of September 1939. After it was withdrawn from circulation, it could still be exchanged for German marks until October 15, 1939.
Most likely, these pieces were prepared specifically for this exchange, by canceling and appropriately marking the banknotes remaining from circulation.
This specimen is in mint condition, with quadruple perforation and double red crossings on both sides.
An extremely rare specimen; this type is known only from single examples. The mintage was likely significantly smaller than that of typical cash-office samples prepared during the banknote’s introduction into circulation. This likely accounts for the current extreme rarity—or even uniqueness—of this type of sample.
A denomination for which the existence of a specimen of this type has not yet been documented in the literature.
A beautifully preserved piece.
