A print of the second (intermediate) layer of the portrait of Józef Poniatowski, the main portion of which adorns the 5 zlotych banknotes from 1919 and 1924.
This layer, the most beautiful in terms of craftsmanship and richness of detail, was almost completely “lost” on the 5-złoty bills due to the choice of colors for the individual layers in the final issue.
The work is by the engraver Eugene Gasperini“Gaspe,” who worked in France (with his signature below the portrait).
The color scheme is blue (beautiful, intensely saturated).
One of the unique proof prints documenting the various stages in the creation of the first 5-złoty banknote of the Second Polish Republic.
Dimensions: 125 x 140 mm (including the print: 85 x 85 mm)
