A very rare medal from the time of Augustus III of Saxony, which Emeryk Hutten-Czapski classified as R8 in terms of rarity.
It is a medal commemorating Henryk Brühl—the first minister of Saxony—who was appointed to that position by Augustus III of Saxony. As Count Raczyński emphasized, Brühl was a figure who exerted significant influence on the government of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Starting as a page to Augustus II, he rose to hold high titles, even though along the way he was implicated, among other things, in Saxony’s involvement in the three Silesian Wars and the sale of Polish vacant offices.
This medal was crafted by the Dresden medalist Christian Siegmund Wermuth.
This piece has a few heavier dents along the rim and some scratches, but it also features a nice relief.
