Here is one of the most interesting issues of Malopolska. The denarius discovered in the Pełczysk treasure, which is an iconographically worthy successor to the small "beautiful style" brakteates from the so-called Cracow treasure. It is a coin that shows us the two saints, Stanislaw and Adalbert, in an iconography full of historical references, including the symbolism of martyrdom, the scene of stoning, or rising from the grave. The iconography, which was described in its full glory on the pages of our website by Witold Garbaczewski.
Coin from the collection of Stanislaw Niewitecki, together with an envelope from the collection.
Silver, diameter 17 mm, weight 0.26 g.
