Most likely removed from its frame—practically the entire edge shows signs of filing. The surface is slightly polished. The piece itself, however, is attractive.
The 5 zlotych coin is the denomination with the lowest mintage among all coins in this issue. Its mintage was a mere 22,500, whereas there were 7.5 times as many 2-złoty coins and nearly 50 times as many 3-złoty coins! The mintage was low, especially since, after the uprising’s defeat, the tsarist government attempted to withdraw these coins from circulation. Many of them survived only because they served as mementos of the national uprising and, as such, were kept in people’s homes.
