The rarest issue of Elbląg groszy from the time of Sigismund the Old.
Its rarity may be explained by protests from the nobility regarding the coin’s minting without the king’s bust. The matter was not resolved until the king personally confirmed that he authorized such die design. It was most likely at that time that minting of this denomination resumed, though the mintage could not have been large.
The coin is varnished and bears a bending line.
Includes a slip from the Elbląg grosz collection.
