Exceptional provenance: from the historic collection of Zygmunt Zakrzewski.
This set of chisels is currently the last item we have available for sale directly from the estate of the heirs of the eminent Polish medievalist and numismatist Zygmunt Zakrzewski (1867–1951).
His magnificent collection of medieval coins, in accordance with his last will, was donated after his death by his daughter, Jadwiga Zakrzewska-Kleczkowska (1910–1985), to the National Museum in Kraków (the Emeryk Hutten-Czapski Museum). To this day, this collection forms the core of the museum’s medieval holdings.
We have offered some of the numismatic memorabilia and items from the Zakrzewski family collection—both from Zygmunt and from his daughter Jadwiga, who shared and continued her father’s passion for numismatics—at our previous auctions (25th and 26th, among others, here).
This set of coin blanks is the final lot from this distinguished legacy that we are offering. It most likely formed part of Zygmunt Zakrzewski’s historic collection.
A collection of items currently unavailable on the numismatic market, with an excellent, historical provenance from the collection of Jadwiga Zakrzewska-Kleczkowska, and most likely previously from Zygmunt Zakrzewski.
The set includes the original, historic parchment envelope and a small card with a description (written in pen, most likely by Jadwiga Zakrzewska-Kleczkowska).
