The cross was awarded to Lt. Stanislaw Kurnatowski. He was assigned to the regiment in 1938, from the Grudziądz School. During mobilization in August 1939, he was commander of the 2nd platoon in the 4th squadron. He fell on 10.IX in the battle of the Bzura River near Walewice while capturing a CKM nest.
