Exceptionally attractive and very rare tupu solid numbering - 444444 - on a 1919 branded issue banknote.
Collecting banknotes with solid numbering is a strong international trend these days. In practice, however, such collecting is mainly limited to contemporary issues, where, thanks to an awareness of the greater, decidedly supra-nominal value of such banknotes, many people specialize in fishing them out of circulation, and these activities are also aided by sorting and counting machines.
100 years ago, there was definitely no such fashion. The bulk of banknotes performed their usual circulation function and circulated among people who did not see them as collector's values. Banknotes naturally wore out in circulation and ended their cycle when withdrawn, as waste paper to be destroyed.
Nowadays - with only a scant few of the then-issued banknotes remaining on the market - the chances of finding ones with special numbers are very slim.
The present 1 mkp is incredibly attractive in this regard.
It is the first solid pre-war Polish banknote we see. Beautiful, with the fours themselves.
Banknote in natural, strong 3+ condition. Paper with preserved printing freshness (crisp); corners nice, and surface clean and with a slight sheen. Very attractive, definitely recommended.
