It is possible that this is the only album of its kind!
All the banknotes in it (the complete Great Poles series) are individually signed by the designer - Andrzej Heidrich.
Andrzej Heidrich (1928-2019) is respectfully referred to today as the "court designer of the NBP." This is a clear historical connotation to Jan Filip Holzhaeusser (1731-1792) - court medalist to King Stanislaw August Poniatowski. He was the author of stamps for the vast majority of circulating coins and royal medals of the time. His craftsmanship at the time is still admired today, as is that of Andrew Heidriach. Both were excellent artists in their craft, with whom the issuer, as he began his cooperation, so fully and forever relied on them, finding no one else worthy to replace them.
A. Heidrich's cooperation with the NBP began in the 1960s with the design of the 1964-65 City of Poland banknote series (described in our Reading Room), which was not realized in circulation, as well as the PLN 500 with Maria Curie-Skłodowska (a design later used for the PLN 20,000 banknote in 1989). These designs, although not introduced, were nevertheless so excellent that their author attracted the attention of the issuer. He was entrusted to work on new banknotes in the Great Poles series. It was A. Heidrich designed the first banknote in the series - the 500 zloty 1974 with Tadeusz Kosciuszko, as well as all subsequent ones, up to the 2 million 1992-93 and the unrealized 5 million. And he is the author of all the banknotes we pay with today.
A unique figure in the history of Polish paper money.
Both series designed by A. Heidrich - both Great Poles and the current one, with the post of Poland's rulers, are considered the most beautiful in the history of our paper money!
Sometimes Mr. Andrzej Heidrich, at the requests of his friends, signed (signed) the banknotes of his design to them. Nowadays, banknotes signed in this way are highly sought after on the collector's market, and if they appear, they are increasingly appreciated. Especially since their designer is no longer alive and will not sign them again. Andrew Heidrich passed away on October 20, 2019 at the age of 91.
The subject of this auction is a unique set of such banknotes.
This is a set of banknotes of the Great Poles series - all denominations and types - in the NBP commemorative album. The album from the issue of April 15, 2015, in which on each banknote their designer - Andrzej Heidrich- signed with his own hand.
Such an item already takes on a completely different dimension. Just as the artist signs his prints, here the designer signed his signature on the realization of his work, thus giving it a personal, individual character - in a way, precisely the dimension of a work of art.
The artist's autograph is placed on the bottom margin of each bill.
All banknotes are in issue condition, the album in unblemished condition.
An exceptional item!
