During the period of the January Uprising, no insurgent money was introduced. From this period we have only temporary receipts of various kinds and insurrectionary loan bonds, but as for banknotes, they remained only at the project stage.
Not even trial prints of such banknotes are known, but the matrices prepared for their production and the very paper with watermarks dedicated to different denominations have survived. All of them are known only from individual pieces.
The subject of this auction is a 252 x 112 mm section of paper with a watermark for the 10 zloty denomination (ex. WCN 73/340).
Unlisted both in the Lucow collection and in the Cz. Miłczak catalog.
Currently known only from this one piece.
Folded in half, preserved in nice, clean, natural condition. On the reverse is the former ownership stamp of Piotr Umiński in Warsaw and the number, probably the order of his collection, noted in pen.
A unique and historically very important item.
