Lot description

Certificate: NGC 5782145-010 Top Pop only one MS63
Reference: Kahnt 658, Kopicki 11542 (R3)

A beautiful, commemorative two-grosz coin of King Augustus.

A mint-struck coin, with the patina of an old collection, awarded the highest and currently only such grade by NGC (Top Pop).

This is a distinctive issue featuring an artistic depiction of an angel (Hymen) floating among the clouds, raising a torch wrapped in myrtle, accompanied by the inscription SPEI PUBLICAE (public hope).

Minted to commemorate the wedding of the king’s son—Frederick Christian (Elector of Saxony in 1763)—to Anna of Bavaria.
