The first vintage of the Torun shekels of Augustus III.
In 1758 the Russian army enters Toruń and stays there until October 1762. However, this does not prevent the city from resuming regular monetary issuance after a break of almost 100 years. Following the example of Gdansk, on the basis of former privileges, including in connection with the Prussian sub-value coinage flooding the country, Toruń reopens its mint in 1760. It begins its issuance with shekels.
A variant with the date on the sides of the monogram and rosettes on the sides of the city's coat of arms.
Variant with a high 3 in the monogram and a punctuation in THORUN (C under T).
A nice, above-average piece for this issue.
