Very nice ort from an interesting collectible year.
Beautiful reverse, with mint sheet flaws on the obverse. The whole in a light patina.
It is an ort of a city issue, representing Danzig's answer to the lousy and sub-value coinage flowing into the city. Being the third issue of this denomination in the time of King Augustus. It was commissioned by the City Council to mincmaster Oeckerman, after the abuses of his predecessor came to light and just part of the mintage of this issue was used to redeem Schwerdtner's bad orts.
A variation of the denomination's numerals over a large wreath (with four flowers at its top), separated by a sword blade.
Variant with four patches, with stripes in a 2-3-3-2 arrangement.
A type noticeably rarer than the Leipzig ortho issues.
