A beautiful thaler. A cabinet piece in a drawer charming patina, from under which the natural luster shines through.
This is a thaler from the issue of August III for Saxony. With his titulary as King of Poland and a large four-field shield with the coats of arms of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth on the reverse.
Striking because this denomination was minted in Dresden with stamps of larger diameter, and these coins are noticeably wider than the thalers from the issue for Poland (the so-called Banco-Taler).
The type was minted between 1737 and 1755, with a hook mark and the initials of Friedrich Wilhelm ó Feral (mincmaster of the Dresden mint), and a shield of the
Saxon 27 field.
