Mint curate thaler.
The most beautiful to appear at auction in Poland.
This is a striking, large vicarage coin of August II, being the first vicarage coin of a Polish king. The name comes from the privilege of the Saxon electors, who according to it exercised the vicariate in the Saxon district after the death of the emperor. To mark the occasion, coins of various denominations were minted, most with a beautifully executed depiction of the king pinning a horse.
The thaler is the largest coin in the series. And while it is encountered regularly at auctions, acquiring it in mint condition is one of the big challenges. We, in our 25-year history of the company, have not yet had this coin in such condition.
Beautiful, natural luster. Sharp, uncirculated relief. A light patina. Beauty appreciated with a NGC MS63 note with "+" for beautiful presentation.
