A very rare type of ducat of the first Vicariate series of the Polish king, Elector of Saxony, Augustus II.
The issue was minted to commemorate the office of Vicar, or governor of the Roman Empire, after the death of Emperor Joseph I in April 1711.
The type was most likely minted in Leipzig (instead of Dresden). Clearly different in the iconography of the two sides. On the obverse without the shield of arms under the horse, but with the titular FRID AVGVST. On the reverse with large insignia above the date 1711, with the legend in the rim, instead of two altars with insignia between the legend in the lines.
First time in our offer.
