A very nice piece of the rarer of the two types of 1760 Torun shellacs.
In 1758 the Russian army enters Toruń and stays there until October 1762. However, this does not prevent the city from resuming regular monetary issuance after almost 100 years. Following the example of Gdansk, on the basis of former privileges, including in connection with the Prussian sub-value coinage flooding the country, Toruń reopens its mint in 1760. Its chief mintmaster becomes Daniel Böttcher, whose initials we see on the present shilling.
The type with the initials D-B on the sides of the city's coat of arms.
A coin with very nice, sharp detail. Appreciated with a high note for this type of coin.
