Lot description
Grade: ~VF+
Reference: Kahnt 639, Kopicki 11536 (R3), Davenport 2669

Piece most likely removed from the setting (weak edging, weaker surface), nevertheless of very good appearance.

A distinctive and rare commemorative thaler, known as a vicarian thaler.

The name comes from the privilege of the Saxon electors, who, according to it, held the vicariate in the Saxon district after the death of the emperor. Coins of various denominations were minted to mark the occasion, some with a distinctive, beautifully executed depiction of the king pinning a horse.

Silver, diameter 42 mm, weight 25.63 g.
