A very rare type of denarius, from a cherished reign.
The minting of Boleslaw the Brave, in addition to his most famous denarius, the Princess Polonie, brings to Polish minting a number of very rare coin types. Most known from single pieces. The present one fits into this characteristic.
A denarius of the REX type, that is, the only denarius of the Brave with a royal title - REX (king).
The type dated in the literature to the issue of 1015-1020, before the king's coronation, intended to confirm Boleslaw's royal aspirations.
A very rare double-sided print.
Gniezno (?) mint.
Numerous traces of age-checking of the silver (cuts and bending), but the plate is sound, sound, with a slight luster.
Obverse: Greek cross, rings in the fields, legend in the rim.
Reverse: cross with arms ending in beams, in the rim a legend.
