One of the rarest coins of the time of Boleslaw the Brave.
Known from only a dozen pieces, most of which are in museum collections. According to Stanislaw Suchodolski, being an issue of Boleslaw the Brave minted just after he took power (995-997), or during the years of the struggle for the Bohemian crown (1002-1004). Extensively described by him, among others, in the pages of Numismatic News ("Polish Coinage in the X/XI Century").
A denarius of the VENCIEZLAVVS type, a coin for years considered the first Czech coin.
A sought-after and prized type, many times rarer than the prized Princess Polonie type today.
Traces of bending, typical of coins of this era, one crack.

Obverse: distorted notation DVX in the border, in the rim strongly distorted notation of the name Boleslaw.
Reverse: straight cross in the border, in the rim: VENCIEZLAVVS.
