A very rare coin, known so far from only a few quotations.
Crown denarius of still not fully established attribution - attributed to Ladislaus I Lokietek, or Casimir III the Great.
The attribution to Ladislaus I Lokietek is argued by the similarity to iconographically similar denarii with the letter K on the reverse and a crown on the obverse (with WLADISLA in the legend). However, these are stylistically different coins. The letter K is distinct, with no connection at the top, and the crown is narrower.
In the type that the present coin represents, on all pieces we see a distinct letter R, whose outline of the upper belly is clearly guided, as in the letter P. So that it is difficult to consider them as an upwardly connected Gothic K. Especially since on other coins of this period the letter K does not appear with an upper connection.
Recommended.
Reverse: gothic letter R, surrounded by legend: o [POLO]NIE o +.
Obverse: crown, in the rim legend: 8 REGI[S].
Silver, diameter 12.5 mm, weight 0.29 g.
