Lot description
Grade: F

Domitianus Domitianus was a usurper in Alexandria and spoke out against Diocletian in 297. This was a very dangerous occurrence, as it destabilized the grain supply to the capital. Domitian Domitian minted aureuses, follis and some Greek denominations; all of his coins are rare.

Obverse: Bust of the emperor wearing a laurel wreath, clockwise, with the legend IMP CL DOMITITIVS DOMITIANVS AVG in the rim.

Reverse: Genius standing left, holding a patera and a horn of plenty, surrounded by the legend GENIO POPVLI ROMANI

Bronze, diameter 25.5 mm, weight 8.05 g.
