An intriguing coin, which, in the context of the latest research on its minting, should be considered a proof issue.
For many years, the conviction in numismatics persisted that the 3 grosz was a later Viennese minting, made in the second half of the 19th century, as a supplement to the WMK issue. Nowadays, in the context of, among other things, important documents of the period (e.g., writings with the ruling Senate), it must be considered incorrect, and the minting of this denomination must be attributed to the city of Kraków.
This is a trial issue, made in 203 pieces, in September 1835. On a minting machine specially imported for this from Warsaw, about which we can read more extensively, among others, in the entry by Mr. Marek Głuch, or the article by Mr. Stanisław Pyszno published in the 4th volume of Numismatics of Krakow.
Beautiful art. Typical sheet flaws for this issue, otherwise no comments. Dark brown patina, mint luster.
