A very rare coin typologically, absent from many advanced coin collections from the reign of John II Casimir.
Crown pennies in the minting of King John Casimir were a denomination minted for circulation only in 1650. It was restored with the passing of a resolution that year lifting the ban on small coinage, but was supplanted by the large-scale minted two-grosze.
Three types are known, all rated at the highest degrees of rarity (R7-R8). The first with two Wieniawa coats of arms, the second without the Vasa coat of arms and the third with the Wieniawa coat of arms only on the reverse. And representative of the latter type is the present penny.
