The Torun mint at the time of John Casimir had been in operation since the year of his coronation, minting first thalers and ducats, and after the ban on minting lower denominations was lifted, also shekels, two-groats and just orts.
A new type of royal portrait, with a mantle covering the king's shoulder and another of his crown. The portrait, which over the course of this vintage, changes the bust from 1653-1654.
Shallow embossed, very nicely preserved.
Rarer vintage.
