Lot description
Grade: PCGS MS62
Certificate: PCGS 83877871
Reference: Żmudzin Gd51.2.1 -RRRR-, Kopicki 7608 (R2), CNG 272.I.c

One of the rarest two-grosze of King John Casimir.

Danzig dwugrosz 1651 in an uncommon variety - with a border on the obverse.

While the first year of minting this denomination in Gdansk is the most popular, varieties with borders are very rare. We had a variety with a border on the obverse on offer only once, at our first auction in 2017. It was this piece.

Only 2 pieces with a border only on the obverse are known at auctions in Poland. This is one of them.

Very nice state of preservation.

Article about this coin available on our site.

Catalog of Danzig dwugroszy available on SpodStempla.pl blog.
