Lot description
Grade: XF+
Reference: Garbaczewski 177

The bracelet was once attributed, due to its otolithic inscription, to various princes named Casimir. This attribution was challenged by S. Suchodolski, who attributed it to Leszek the White. The appearance of Casimir's name would be an invocation of the prestige of his senior father (Casimir the Just), while the image of the bishop referred to St. Adalbert or St. Stanislaus.

Representation: half-figure of the bishop with mitre bicornis, in profile, holding a pastoral in his outstretched hand. In the rim: AZIMIR (from left) DVX (from right).

Rare brakteat.

Silver, diameter 15 mm, weight 0.12 g.
