A very rare Wroclaw ducat from the time of Louis the Jagiellonian (King of Bohemia, Duke of Silesia).
City issue, without the name of the ruler, with the initial of the city in the shield and the notation"Wroclaw gold coin".
Interesting denomination marking - placed under the lion the intertwined digits XX under the abrwia sign.
The last ducat of Louis II, minted in the year of his death.
Piece ex. Elsen 117/1722.
The coin is clearly bent, with soiling, but also with local signs of repair. Readable, and given its rarity, definitely worth a look despite its poor condition.
Gold, diameter 21.5 mm, weight 3.48 g.Obverse: crowned Czech lion walking to the left above the denomination marking. In the rim:
[W] * MO * AVR * VRATISLAVIEN * 1526.
Reverse: St. Wenceslaus in armor and cap standing facing, with pennant, sword and shield with head of St. John. In the rim:
S * WENCESL - AVS * D * B*.
