A very rare imitation of the Saxon denarius of Otto and Adelaide.
This is an issue attributed to the minting of Mieclaw (Duke of Mazovia in 1037-1047), which was supposed to be related to the need to pay the army. It is described more extensively in the article by Dr. Mateusz Bogucki.
An additional advantage of the present piece is its striking size (wide disc, especially against the background of typical denarii with a shrine).
Obverse: a shrine with a cross flanked by two spheres. In the rim a legend.
Reverse: a straight cross with the letters ODOD in the fields. In the rim the legend.
