Lot description
Grade: XF/XF+
Reference: Parchimowicz-Brzeziński 5.d8

A very nice, natural penny.

An interesting variety, with a dot after a large printed letter G, the origin of which, Rafal Janke, sees in the time of the Bar Confederation.

As he tells us about the history of the copper mint in Krakow:"On June 21, 1768, the Bar Confederation occupied Krakow, and at the same time the mint. Theemployees of the mint were forced to take an oath, taking back the money in the amount of 2,996 zlotys in the mint's coffers, while ordering them to continue minting copper...". As he adds,"the confederates from Krakow took with them a total of more than 150,000 zlotys, leaving, however, at least 22 barrels in pennies and half-pennies at the mint."
