A very nice half-gilt from a very interesting vintage for collectors.
1769 is the last of the high-volume silver two-penny vintages, for which a very large group of stamps were used for the minting run. Their multitude is well illustrated in a trilogy of posts by the SAP Silver Coins blog.
A variety with 8 large laurel leaves pointing upward.
Delicate surface scratches, otherwise a very nice presentation. Patina of an old collection.
