A beautiful piece, an interesting issue of Julius Caesar. Struck at the military mint, traveling with Caesar in Northern Italy (49-48 BC).
A natural coin, with a fine patina and remnants of luster in the corners.
Obverse: Elephant walking to the right, trailing a serpent, in CAESAR section.
Reverse: Priestly utensils: scoop (simpulum), dropper, axe and pointed priestly cap (apex).
Silver, diameter 17.5 mm, weight 3.61 g.
