The first siege thaler in Polish numismatics.
Piece removed from the setting, with background honing behind the figure of Christ and removable surface gilding.
A very rare denomination of the siege issue. First time in our offer.
A monetary commemoration of the conflict between Gdansk and King Stefan Batory, which led to the siege of the city in 1577.
The issuance of the siege silver coin, for which bullion was obtained, among other things, from melting down all the church silver, is divided into two stages. The first, of which this thaler is a representative, involves coins from the mint organized by Caspar Goebel.
An early type, it was stamped using a cylinder press. Made before Goebel fled the city, after being accused of embezzling bullion.
Variety with 9 flowers on the left and 6 on the right.
Silver, diameter 41 mm, weight 27.1 g.
