Lot description
Grade: VF-XF
Reference: Kopicki 7338 (R5), CNG 74, Tyszkiewicz 70 mk

The first vintage of Danzig sixpences, a very rare, highest denomination among the silver circulation coins of Sigismund I.

A striking coin, wide for its time, which appeared when monetary circulation was dominated by half-pennies, which had been issued for years.

The second type of this issue: with the letter D (from DANTISCUM) and the denomination marking VI on the reverse (this year equally rare sixpences were minted with the denomination marking on the sides of the king's head).

Very nice condition, especially the reverse. A charming patina of the former collection.

A needed and typologically sought after coin.

Very rare, as evidenced by its few auction listings.

Silver, diameter 29 mm, weight 5.26 g.
