A very rare variety with the last digit of the date punched through - from 1544 (a vintage in which pennies were not yet minted) to 1545.
Described only in a recent study by Gregory Romanczyk, known to him only from one piece (from our 15 auction, less well preserved).
The first vintage minted after a several-year hiatus in the issuance of this denomination.
Type with an inscription in three lines, with leaves at the bottom of the obverse.
