A beautiful piece, especially for a troy of the first of the Sigismunds.
Coin with very nice detail and mint luster.
The mint in Gdansk didn't start minting three-pence coins until 1535, after the Torun mint was closed. It was then that it hired some of its staff, including the medallion maker Maciej Schilling, who was responsible for the stamps of these issues. The present type is distinguished by the presence of the mint mark (crossed hooks) and the bust of the king with a cap superimposed under the royal crown.
A variant with an obverse legend ending in PRVSS. Variant with a crown topped with a cross.
