A very rare minting error.
The so-called "brakteat minting", in American terminology "brockage". Its effect is the minting of a coin, both sides of which are a print of a single stamp - in this case, the obverse. One correctly, and the other in negative, concave form. It is created by placing a coin disc on a coin not removed from the lower stamp and striking it with the upper stamp.
An early type of the Hound occurring only on the first two vintages of two-denarii (1566-1567).
We have only seen this type of mint error on a dwudenar once before. This is the first time we have it on offer.
