The first bicroch of the Republic.
A distinctive and typologically necessary denomination, minted in only one year during the reign of Sigismund II. The Vilnius dwagrosh was introduced into circulation along with the foursquares as a convenient common currency for Lithuania and the Crown, since, as Marian Gumowski describes it, when evaluating Lithuanian coins for the Crown one always received inconvenient fractions.... However, unlike the foursheets, their issuance was quickly discontinued.
Legendary variety: L / LITV.
Gentle bending and crusting of the disc, otherwise nice state of preservation. Reverse with natural luster and patina.
Attractive for this prized denomination.
