In 1588, the first shillings were issued during the reign of Sigismund III.
The Olkusz mint mints them, maintaining the style of the shekels minted back in the days of Stefan Batory. In addition to changes related to the new ruler (Snopek, different titulature), it changes the designation of the mint manager. In place of the initials N-H, Nicolas Hewel de Coplino, he places a distinctive half-pipe before the date.
