Here is the rarest variety among the triplets with the Swan crest.
Known only from this one piece.
Distinguished by the eagle with a crown placed by the engraver above its head.
The very type of these trojaks, with the Swan coat of arms placed next to the letter W (the designation of the Vilnius mint), is rare. In this variety, it is unprecedented.
The first and, so far, the last time it was listed was at the RDA's anniversary auction in 2022. Since then, no other piece of this variety has appeared at auctions in Poland.
An additional advantage of the present piece is that it will be illustrated in the next edition of"Coins and bars of Lithuania" by Eugenijus Ivanauskas. This was confirmed in correspondence with the author (he gave it the number 6SC198-41 with the rarity grade Ultra Rare).
The Trojak with Swan is one of the symbols of the rare Trojak of Sigismund III Vasa. This coat of arms, belonging to the Grand Treasurer of Lithuania Andrew Zawisza, first appears on coins in 1598 and disappears from them after only five years, during which the operations of the Vilnius mint are successively extinguished. This is a coin that is sought after regardless of vintage, not only by collectors of trojaks, but also by those who collect coins of Royal Poland typologically. Rarely found on the market, as a result, it is absent from many collections.
The present one shares not only the mere presence of a prized coat of arms, a unique variety, but also beauty.
It is a beautiful, well-minted piece, with a natural mint luster.
