While 1597 trojacks with Melchior Reysner's monogram are among the popular ones, for 1598 they are very rare coins.
This is an early, short-minted type of trojak. Minted before the events that may have ended the mint in Lublin.
Quoting a study by Dariusz Marzęta:"In 1598 Melchior takes a not quite high (16,218 zlotys), but also a short-term loan from a very influential Chelm Chamberlain - Pawel Orzechowski. A loan he cannot repay, causing him to flee to Gdansk in the fall of 1598! The mint is left without a manager, and only under the management of Hanusz Eck".
Eventually, thanks to the intervention of the Crown Treasurer, Orzechowski does not occupy the tenement where the mint is located, and Reysner returns to the mint already as a tenant.
Royal bust of type 25.
The prettiest trojak of this variety that we have offered so far.
