One of the most valuable trojak of Sigismund III Vasa.
Very rare, the first type of triplets. With an iconography different from that of all later trojaks.
A distinctive issue differing in reverse iconography from the arrangements of the mint ordinance. Without a denomination marking, with a five-field shield of the coat of arms centrally, and the king's titulature, instead of the term"silver triple penny of the kingdom of Poland".
Very briefly issued, as evidenced by the prevalence of triples with a small head and a three-line inscription on the reverse.
A variety with a large head of the king and a full date on the sides of the shield in horizontal writing (1-5 / 8-8). Very highly rated both in old catalogs - Czapski R7 - and contemporary ones.
Issued at the mint of Nicolas Hevel de Colpino (with his mark next to the crown), during the period of the activity of Crown Treasurer Jan Dulski (Przegonia coat of arms and initials I-D at the bottom of the shield).
First time in our offer.
The last listing at auctions in Poland of this variety was in 2015.
Obverse: bust of the king with a small head in a crown, wearing armor with an orifice, facing left. In the rim:
SIG III D G REX POL ET DES SVE.
Reverse: crowned five-field shield of arms over Przegonia, on the sides the date 1-5 | 8-8. In the rim:
M D LIT RVS - PRVS MAS ETC.
