A nicely minted and preserved piece.

A distinctive denarius of Boleslaw the Tall, the eldest son of Ladislaus the Exile, with the reverse referring to his father's issue.

Struck in Breslau, dated 1173-1190.

The obverse shows the letters VS, which was once interpreted as Sanctus Adalbertus, but now, as Boris Paszkiewicz writes, "would be an abbreviation of the name Vladizlaus."

Silver, diameter 16 mm, weight 0.30 g.
