A beautiful and rare ducat of the city of Wroclaw.
An issue that, in addition to its economic function, had one purpose: to fight for the victory of the Protestant faith.
This is only a two-year issue, whose origins are linked to the warfare in Silesia. As described by Jaroslaw Dutkowski, the Evangelical states formed a union of Silesian lords and cities, which included the dukes of Legnica and Brest, the Duke of Oleśnica and the city of Wrocław. The union was headed by Jan Chrystian of Brest.
The mint was opened in Breslau, and Hanusz Rieger became its administrator. It minted three-cracker coins, thalers and just ducats in 1634-1635.
The nature of this issue is perfectly reflected on the reverse of these coins, where sunbeams pierce the clouds with the inscription IEHOVA (God's name in Hebrew), and the rim reads: SALVS ET VICTORIA NOSTRA(salvation and our victory).
This is the first time in our offer.
