Stefan Batory, Trojak Olkusz 1584 ID - low portrait - b.rare

add Your note
Lot description
Reference: Iger O.84.5.a (R4), Parchimowicz 74

One of the rarest crown trojak of Stefan Batory.

A type distinguished by the royal portrait dividing the otolithic inscription at the bottom (with the titulature beginning with REX P... instead of the ruler's name). The portrait is known from the variety with the mint mark "lion", but here without it.

The rarity of this variety is clearly evidenced by the fact that Tadeusz Iger did not have it in his collection. In his catalog he illustrated it with a piece from a private collection. The same photo was also used by Janusz Parchimowicz in his catalogs, without presenting other variants of this variety.

The coin is perforated, but for typological collections this may be the only opportunity to acquire this variety in the coming years.
