According to W. Garbaczewski, this is "one of the more obscure motifs on Teutonic bracteates.... It was formerly combined with the gmer of the Danzig townsman Hanusz Trost, who leased the mint in the second half of the 15th century. Recently, B. Paszkiewicz expressed the opinion that perhaps it is some kind of schematic building - perhaps a symbol of a hospital? The Teutonic Order was a hospital order, the lily would then crown the building and signify the invocation of the Blessed Virgin Mary."
Analyzing the present piece, we favor the interpretation of B. Paszkiewicz - due to the placed star (a Marian symbol), having "under the protection" of this building (?).
