Over the years, the quality of the shekel continues to deteriorate. While its pure silver content remains at 45% in 1411, it drops from 38% to 26% in the first two years of Kuchmeister's reign! In an effort to meet immediate financial needs, he minted large quantities of weak coinage while making preparations for reform.
The early issues of this master, up to August 1416, are very diverse, but are characterized by the poor quality of the minted coin. This piece, however, stands out against its background.
